Protecting a release once it is live

Distribution alone does not protect a recording. Eligible releases are also registered for YouTube Content ID and social rights management, so uses of your music in other people's videos can be identified and monetised rather than ignored.

If you also write your own songs, publishing administration collects the mechanical and performance royalties that recording revenue does not include.

Getting your metadata right

Most royalty problems are metadata problems: a misspelled artist name, a missing songwriter split or an ISRC reused across two masters. We check submissions before delivery and keep the catalogue tidy afterwards, which is what allows platforms and collecting societies to match payments to the correct owner.

Can independent artists distribute their own music?

Yes. An independent artist does not need a record deal to appear on streaming services. A distributor delivers your audio and metadata to each platform, collects the revenue and pays it out to you.

Do I keep ownership of my recordings?

Yes. Dorpon Media does not take ownership of your masters or your compositions. You license us to deliver and administer the release; the rights remain yours.

What do I need before my first release?

A final master, cover art that meets store specifications, correct artist and songwriter credits, a release date and any featured-artist or split information. Accurate metadata at delivery avoids corrections later.

How long does it take to go live?

Releases are reviewed and submitted to stores quickly, but each platform controls its own go-live timing. Scheduling two to four weeks ahead gives editorial and playlist teams time to consider the release.

How do artists get paid?

Platform revenue is reconciled against your releases and paid out on a monthly cycle, with statements showing which stores, territories and tracks generated the income.
